Most new business owners seem to think they have nailed online marketing because they have a Facebook page. They devote hours to posting content and getting likes, building fans, sharing content but they forget the obvious! That actually convert any of their followers. They don't track their ROI. Hours wasted, no new leads, no sales but they 20 likes on a post of their dog in the shop! Yes I know you need some personality in marketing but you also need to know your P&L.
As you obviously know Facebook is not actually closing down but read on to learn more and get my point.
If you have a Facebook Page for your business have you done any of the following?
- Shared a link to educating content on your own site (Content marketing)
- Told your followers to take action over at your site (Call to action)
- Made an offer asking them to join your email list (Not afraid to sell)
- Run a promotion which involves them going to your web site or visiting your shop (Building repeat business)
While Facebook is great for startups and building customers, it is pointless if all you do is tell them about your business.
Facebook is closing down. How then will you market your business?
Seriously! If 90% of your marketing is done via Facebook what will you do when it shuts down?
How will you contact your customers?
I speak to loads of business owners about marketing strategies and it drives me mad when all they do is post on Facebook!
My video rant says it all.
As I said, people check their email daily. This study says more people use the web for emailing rather than social media.
It's proven that email is still the winner. Open rates are much higher with email compared to CTR (click through rates) of Facebook.
Please starting building an email list so you can communicate with your followers and customers. Try out Aweber if you have not used an email marketing tool before.
What I hope you take from this article...
I hope you got some value from my rant and you can see having a Facebook Page is not the only tool to have in your marketing toolbox.
No matter what business you own, start building an emailing list or customer database.
I can not emphasise this enough!!
